I read a lot of good things about this place online, and thought I'd drive there from Brooklyn to see if it is indeed that good. In my opinion, it is even better than good. Artie's is a seafood market and a restaurant so you can either go there to buy the freshest seafood or you can eat it there. As you drive there, the place is not very big, and is a little hard to spot.
People at the restaurant are very friendly , they briefly tell you about their place, and then describe what the specials are. We decided to try as many dishes as possible, and we pretty much liked them all. Lobster bisque and grilled calamari are very good, tuna tartar is great, and broiled whole red snapper, blackened chilean sea bass and swordfish are spectacular. Yes, their dinnerware is plastic, but you go to such places to have great food with the freshest ingredients so plastic doesn't ruin anything.
What you should know is this is a CASH-only place, but on the positive side, they are BYOB. Two thumbs up. I'll be definitely visiting this place again and again in the future. I'm glad I found it. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g47954-d8779457-r323521548-Artie_s_South_Shore-Island_Pa...
